The business plan was simple: save some money, buy books and a cash register, then find a place to sell those books. That place came in the form of a refurbished 1992 Bluebird school bus, lovingly named Ladybird by her owner, our dear friend and fellow bibliophile, Mercer Black. We cleaned it up, installed shelving, slapped in some lighting, turned music on, and started selling used science fiction and fantasy books on January 24th, 2020. Little did we know that in a few short weeks we would be closing our doors and moving online. To say we were unprepared would be an understatement. However, this is not where our story really begins.
Our story begins at the beginning, as most stories do. Have you ever wished your favorite section of the bookstore was the whole store? We have. Our favorite section is, and always was, the science fiction and fantasy section, or as one of our favorite booksellers calls it, “that weird shit.” Weird though it may be, it was our first literary love, and we just can’t go back, nor would we want to! We are passionate about sharing our love for weird books. Here you’ll find all things weird, wonderful, sprinkled in fairy dust, magical, dragon-ridden, intergalactic, dystopian, genre-bending, and, most importantly, imagination stretching. Adventurous reading, space travelers!
